I've been in a storm for the past six months or so. I'm grateful for this message and can attest that Jesus does speak to us in the midst of it. He continues to be my faithful Lord and friend🙏🏾
I don’t know if it’s a common storm, but estrangement from an adult child after the loss of a beloved spouse. I have with God’s help chosen to not allow the pain to be my focus but to surrender the estrangement to God and focus on the good in my life. God has given me His peace in the midst of the storm!
Unfortunately yes it is more common than it should be. My church started a support group called P.E.A.K (parents estranged from adult kids). It has become the largest support group at our church. Prayers appreciated!
I’m in the storm is moving and starting over in another state, I’ve moved a lot so not worried about myself. But my son is 10 and pray that he has a smooth transition. He was in a Christian school but will transition to a public school. Thanks for the message!
This goes almost perfectly with what I am trying to do with my series! Thank you so much for this! I may use some of your ideas here for my next one! 😄
In The Desire of Ages, which is a classic commentary on the ministry and life of Christ, the author wrote the following about this experience:
"When Jesus was awakened to meet the storm, He was in perfect peace. There was no trace of fear in word or look, for no fear was in His heart. But He rested not in the possession of almighty power. It was not as the “Master of earth and sea and sky” that He reposed in quiet. That power He had laid down, and He says, “I can of Mine own self do nothing.” John 5:30. He trusted in the Father’s might. It was in faith—faith in God’s love and care—that Jesus rested, and the power of that word which stilled the storm was the power of God. DA 336.1
This is good, Paul. It’s so crazy how we let fear creep in. Luckily, the more “seasoned” we are, the more opportunities we have to look back and see all the times God has provided and brought us through the storms in our lives.
Thank you for this awesome word. I especially love the part where "He rebuked the storm and calmed the waters" We must learn to discern what to rebuke and what to calm. i.e, we rebuke anxiety, and speak peace (calm) to our hearts.
What's even more beautiful is his presence. He's right there in the storm with us. 🙏
“Many struggle with anxiety, and while medication can help, we should not overlook faith and prayer as vital tools for calming our souls. When the enemy reminds you of past failures or discouragement, remind him of your identify in Christ.”
That is such truth, Paul. I struggled with anxiety my entire adult life, sometimes leading to debilitating panic attacks. Since I recommitted my life to Christ last May, I have not had one panic attack! Do I still get anxious at times, absolutely, put I stop and pray now in this moments.
And the enemies attacks are relentless, granted I provided a lot of material from my past, but I now proclaim daily that I am not my past, I am who God says I am.
Thanks for sharing Stephen, I can relate and I am sure many others. It’s almost like we are in an age of anxiety. Our hope is found in Christ and His righteousness. Thanks again for sharing and commenting. Have a wonderful day.
I'm always comforted that Jesus most often times than not does not take us around the storm, but He will take our hand and walk through the storm with us.

More common than many talk about dear Cindy. Praying over that situation and for you dear friend. Trust Him in the storm.
